Bovi Guilty As Charged: time, venue and tickets for Sunday’s Lagos finale

Bovi Ugboma brings his comedy special “Bovi: Guilty As Charged” to Lagos on Sunday 11 October, in what is billed as the final stop of the tour. The Bovi Guilty As Charged show is at the Eko Convention Centre at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, with a 7pm start. Ahead of the night, the comedian explained the title, promised a surprise A-list guest and put to rest one long-running confusion about his name. Here is what to know if you are going, and what the show says about where Nigerian stand-up is now.

- Doors and tickets (FACT). The official ticketing page from Junior Prefect, the show’s promoter, says doors open at 6pm and that reserved seats are on sale now through a live seat map.
- The tour (FACT). The same site lists an earlier stop in Benin on 1 October, before the Lagos finale.
- Guests (CLAIM). Bovi says an A-list comedian will make a guest appearance, but he declined to say who. Several young comedians will open the show.

What Bovi Guilty As Charged is about
Bovi told The Nation that his shows always carry a running title that works like the title track of an album. “So most of the jokes are themed and the majority of them are pointing accusing fingers,” he said. In other words, expect a set built around blame, confession and the things people would rather not admit.
He also spoke about where he draws the line. “There’s a thin line between making jokes and insulting people and I’ve tried to keep a balance regardless of the season we’re in,” he said, adding that he simply wants “to make people laugh and see the funny side of things”.
“Man on Fire” is retired, and it was never his name
One of the clearest messages from Bovi this week was about branding. Many fans still call him “Man on Fire”, after the series of shows he staged in earlier years. He said that was the name of a product, not of the performer. “Man on fire was a group of shows I did, it was never my name. My name is Bovi,” he said, explaining that his last Man on Fire show was in 2019. “That product is done.”
That matters for anyone searching for Bovi Guilty As Charged tickets or clips, because older posts still use the old title.
Practical tips for Sunday
- Arrive early. Bovi has stressed that the show will start on time. “Come early, this isn’t your regular show,” he said. Nigerian comedy nights are often known for late starts, so take him at his word.
- Plan for traffic. The venue is on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, and evening traffic there can be heavy.
- Know your zone. Junior Prefect’s page splits the hall into Club Lounge (Club Lounge A is sold in pods of six seats), Gold reserved seating on the main floor nearest the stage, and two raked side wings, Silver White and Silver Black.
- Paying from abroad. The ticket page says buyers can pay in naira or with USD, GBP, EUR or CAD cards, and that seats are held for 20 minutes while you pay. That is useful for diaspora fans buying for family in Lagos.
- Buy from the official seller. Use the promoter’s own site rather than resellers on social media.
- Watch for the guest. If the surprise A-list comedian is announced in advance, we will add it here.
Who is Bovi?
Bovi is one of the best-known names in Nigerian comedy. Alongside stand-up, he has built a career as an actor, writer and producer, including creating and starring in the sitcom Extended Family and appearing in feature films.
That business side of entertainment is growing. Studios, training hubs and live events are all attracting investment, as we saw in our report on Femi Adebayo’s Euphoria360 Hub in Lagos. Comedians are also finding big audiences online and on screen; actress Bimbo Ademoye’s comedy-drama success is one example, covered in our report on My 30th Wedding passing 10 million YouTube views.
Live events have also been central to the Nigerian entertainment calendar this season, from reality TV finales such as the BBNaija Season 11 finale to celebrity boxing nights like Chaos in the Ring.
What we do not know yet
We do not know the identity of the guest comedian, the full list of opening acts, how many seats remain or whether the show will be recorded for streaming. Bovi has not said whether there will be more dates after Lagos.
