Bimbo Ademoye’s My 30th Wedding passed 10 million views on YouTube within about 48 hours of its premiere, according to tracking by Nairametrics. The romantic film, co-starring Timini Egbuson, is the latest sign of how fast free YouTube releases are moving in Nollywood. Here are the numbers, how they compare, and what they can and cannot tell us.

What we know

  • The premiere (REPORTED, Nairametrics). My 30th Wedding premiered on 1 October 2026 on Bimbo Ademoye TV, the actress and filmmaker’s own YouTube channel.
  • The milestone (REPORTED). Nairametrics says its tracking showed 10,739,487 views in the early hours of 4 October, about 48 hours after release. It also reports that the film reached one million views within its first three hours.
  • The cast and story (REPORTED). Ademoye stars opposite Timini Egbuson as an ambitious event planner under pressure about her career and family expectations around marriage. Her life changes when a demanding client hires her for a high-stakes memorial project.
  • The channel (REPORTED). Nairametrics puts Bimbo Ademoye TV at about 1.82 million subscribers as of October 2026.
  • Our own check (FACT, YouTube). When we checked the Bimbo Ademoye TV channel page on the morning of Monday 5 October (Lagos time), the film’s listing showed about 13 million views, three days after release, and the channel showed 1.83 million subscribers. YouTube rounds these public counts, and they change by the minute, so treat them as a snapshot.

How My 30th Wedding compares with Ademoye’s earlier releases

The speed stands out against Ademoye’s own recent record, as logged by Nairametrics:

  • Where Love Lives (December 2025): 2.5 million views on day one and 6.04 million in 72 hours, rising to more than 16 million by January 2026.
  • Broken Hallelujah (April 2025): more than 11.2 million views by January 2026.
  • Mirrors and Reflections (April 2026): more than 5.3 million views in under 72 hours and 7.1 million within four days.
  • My 30th Wedding (October 2026): more than 10.7 million in about 48 hours, and about 13 million on the channel’s public count by day four.

On those figures, My 30th Wedding has reached in two days a total that her earlier releases took weeks or months to approach. The channel has also grown quickly. Nairametrics’ August 2025 ranking of producer-owned YouTube channels had Bimbo Ademoye TV at 1.14 million subscribers, so the current count means about 680,000 new subscribers in around 14 months. In practical terms, a single release reaching 13 million views is roughly seven times the size of the channel’s subscriber base, which suggests much of the audience is coming from beyond existing subscribers, for example through YouTube’s own recommendations. That is an inference from the public numbers, not something the channel has stated.

Why YouTube views are not the same as box office

It is tempting to compare 10 million views with cinema takings, but they measure different things. A YouTube view is free for the viewer and is counted under YouTube’s own rules, which can include partial watches. Box office counts paid tickets in cinemas. Neither number tells you directly how much the producer earns.

That is why Nollywood now has two scoreboards. In cinemas, Ademoye has a strong record. Nairametrics notes that Reel Love, her 2025 film with Egbuson, closed its theatrical run at about ₦356.8 million, and that the action-comedy Gingerrr, with Bisola Aiyeola, Kiekie and Bolaji Ogunmola, reached ₦435.5 million after six weeks. Our guide to the highest-grossing Nollywood films explains how those cinema figures are tracked. Why the YouTube model keeps growing

Releasing directly on an owned channel gives a producer control over timing, rights and audience data, and it reaches viewers who will never buy a cinema ticket, including the large audience watching on phones in Nigeria and abroad. Advertising income depends on watch time and where viewers are, which is why fast early views matter so much to these releases.

Ademoye moves between both worlds. Before building her channel audience, she appeared in cinema hits such as Sugar Rush (2019), alongside Adesua Etomi and Bisola Aiyeola, and in Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo. She reprised her role in Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, which earned her a Best Lead Actress nomination at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, according to Nairametrics. Our explainer on how the AMVCAs work covers how those nominations are made. For the longer story of how the industry went from VHS to YouTube and streaming, read our history of Nollywood.

What happens next

  • The next marker is whether My 30th Wedding passes the 16 million-plus mark set by Where Love Lives, and how quickly.
  • Expect other producer-owned channels to point to these numbers as YouTube releases compete for the same holiday-season audience.
  • Ademoye’s next cinema project, if announced, would show how she balances free YouTube premieres with paid theatrical releases.
  • We will update if Nairametrics or the channel publishes a new milestone.
