Zlatan wedding date: Zlatan Ibile and Davita set 24 October for #DTTheUnion

Zlatan Ibile and his long-time partner Davita Lamai have named Saturday 24 October 2026 as their wedding day. The Zlatan wedding date was revealed in a short “save the date” video posted on Instagram on Thursday night, narrated by one of the couple’s sons and tagged #DTTheUnion. The announcement brings an end to months of guessing about the couple’s status. Here is what they have confirmed, what came before it, and what has not been shared.

Who are Zlatan and Davita?
Zlatan, whose real name is Omoniyi Raphael, is one of the best-known voices of Nigerian street-pop. He rose to wide fame with the Zanku sound and dance, which spread across Nigerian parties and social media in the late 2010s and helped bring street music from Lagos into the mainstream. He has worked with many of the country’s biggest acts, which is why so many of them turned up in his comments this week.
Davita Lamai has kept a lower profile than her partner, but she has appeared alongside him at events and on social media for years. The couple have two sons, Toluwalase and Benaiah, according to Pulse Nigeria. The younger was born in 2024.
The road to the Zlatan wedding date
The relationship has played out partly in public, and the timeline below is drawn from Pulse Nigeria’s reporting. We have labelled each point by how well it is supported.
- February 2023 (REPORTED). The pair unfollowed each other on Instagram, which led to break-up rumours. Neither commented, and they were later seen together again.
- January 2026 (REPORTED). After a viral post described Davita as his wife, Zlatan reportedly said she was the mother of his children rather than his wife.
- March 2026 (REPORTED). The couple shared family photos in which both wore matching rings, and Davita began using the surname Omoniyi on Instagram.
- May 2026 (REPORTED). Photos said to be from a private civil ceremony circulated online. The couple did not publicly address them.
- July 2026 (REPORTED). The singer Teni introduced Davita as Zlatan’s wife in a video and said the couple would hold a wedding.
- 8 October 2026 (FACT). The couple announced 24 October as the date of their wedding celebration.
Read together, the reports suggest the 24 October event is a public celebration that follows a private legal ceremony. The couple have not confirmed that, however, so we are not presenting it as fact.
Why the announcement drew so much attention
Nigerian celebrity weddings are major social events, and fans follow them closely, from the pre-wedding shoots to the outfits and the guest list. Zlatan’s announcement also stood out because he rarely shares family moments online. A video narrated by his son, rather than a staged photo shoot, was a personal way to make the news public.
It also arrived during a busy week for celebrity couple news in Nigeria. The content creators Peller and Jarvis announced that they are expecting their first child, which we covered in our report on what the couple said. Jarvis was among the people who congratulated Zlatan and Davita.
For fans, the date also sets up a busy end to October. Big Nigerian weddings tend to become online events in their own right, with guests posting outfits, performances and speeches in real time, so the #DTTheUnion hashtag is likely to trend on the day if the couple open the celebration to cameras. They have not said whether they will.
Davido’s comment was also noticed. The two have worked together in the past, and Davido has been in the news this month for his music too, including his appearance on FOLA’s new album, which we listed in our FOLA 9 tracklist guide.
What we do not know yet
The couple have not said where the wedding will take place, whether it will be a traditional ceremony, a church or registry event, or a reception, or who will perform. They have not commented on the earlier reports about their marital status, and we do not know whether the May photos were of a legal ceremony. We are not repeating speculation about guests or costs. We will update this story if the couple share more.
What happens next
- Before 24 October: fans can expect more pre-wedding content under #DTTheUnion if the couple choose to share it.
- Saturday 24 October: the wedding celebration takes place.
- After the event: we will report on confirmed details, such as the venue and any performances, once they are public.
