How it works
- Stand in front of a plain light wall in even daylight, face the camera and take a sharp photo from about 1.2 m away.
- Pick the photo and choose your document. Each size shows its official source.
- Drag and zoom until your chin sits on the chin line and the top of your head falls between the two crown lines.
- Download a single photo for online forms or a 4×6 inch sheet to print at any photo shop or on your own printer.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Nigerian passport photograph size?
The size widely published for the Nigerian e-passport is 35 mm wide by 45 mm high, in colour, with a white background. The online application also asks for an ICAO-compliant picture, and the NIS portal has a Test Photo Upload page to check yours. Always confirm on immigration.gov.ng before you print.
What photo size is needed for NIN?
NIN photos are taken live at the NIMC enrolment centre, so you do not bring or upload one. NIMC's guidelines ask for a full-frontal colour face, neutral expression and a white or off-white background. For forms that ask for a passport photograph alongside NIN paperwork, the common 35 × 45 mm size is used.
Can I print the 4×6 sheet at home or at a shop?
Yes. The sheet is a 6 × 4 inch image at 300 dpi with several photos and cut marks. Print it at 100% (actual size, not "fit to page") on glossy or matte photo paper, or send it to any photo shop in Lagos, Abuja or your area as a standard 4R print. Check one photo with a ruler before you cut.
Should I replace the background?
Only if the authority allows it. The U.S. Department of State and GOV.UK refuse photos altered with software, so for those take the photo against a plain wall of the right colour and only crop it here. The background option is useful for school, office and other forms that just need a plain background.
Will my photo be accepted?
No tool can promise that. The sizes come from the official sources listed under each preset, but acceptance also depends on lighting, focus, expression, glasses and how recent the photo is. Read the official rules for your application and check the photo before you submit it.
Is my photo uploaded to your server?
No. The photo is opened and processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer, and it is never sent to Centertainment or anyone else. The only downloads are the tool itself and the AI model, which your browser keeps in its cache so the next cut-out starts faster.
Terms of use
- Only edit photos you took, own, or have permission to use. Removing a background does not give you rights to someone else's picture, logo or product shot.
- Never use the signature tool to copy or apply someone else's signature. Forging a signature is a crime.
- Passport and ID offices make the final decision. Some (including the U.S. and UK) refuse photos edited with software, so read the official rules before you replace a background.
- Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded to Centertainment. Your browser downloads the AI model once and keeps it in its cache.
- The tools are free and provided "as is". AI cut-outs can miss fine hair or similar colours, so check the result and keep your original.
Nigerian passport photograph size
For the Nigerian e-passport the commonly published size is 35 mm wide × 45 mm high, in colour, with a white background. The Nigeria Immigration Service asks applicants to upload an ICAO-compliant picture online and to bring passport photographs to the office, and its passport portal has a Test Photo Upload page so you can check your digital photo before applying. NIS does not publish a head size, so our guide lines use the international ICAO proportion (face 70–80% of the photo height).
NIN photos
Your NIN photo is captured live at the NIMC enrolment centre, so there is nothing to upload. NIMC’s biometric guidelines call for a full-frontal colour face, neutral expression, open eyes, closed mouth, even lighting and a white or off-white background. If a bank, school or modification form asks you to attach a passport photograph, the 35 × 45 mm preset is the usual choice; follow the form if it says otherwise.
Visa photo sizes
- United States: 2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm), head 25–35 mm, plain white or off-white background. No digital edits allowed.
- United Kingdom: 45 mm high × 35 mm wide, head 29–34 mm, plain cream or light grey background. Must be unaltered by software.
- Schengen: ICAO standard; most consulates use 35 × 45 mm with a 32–36 mm face on a plain light background.
The full table with links to every official source is under the tool. Rules change, so check them on the day you apply.
Printing your 4×6 sheet
Download the sheet and print it at 100% / actual size on 6 × 4 inch (4R) photo paper. Do not choose “fit to page”, or the photos will come out the wrong size. Measure one photo with a ruler before you cut along the marks. Need a clean background for a school ID instead? The background remover can help, but don’t replace the background where the authority forbids edited photos.
