Audio Lab: free audio tools

Audio Lab puts seven everyday audio jobs on one page: take the vocals out of a song, cut an MP3, make a ringtone, join clips, turn WhatsApp voice notes into MP3s, clean up background noise and fix the volume. Everything happens in your browser, on your phone or laptop, so your files are never uploaded and there’s nothing to install.

Vocal remover

Remove the lead vocal from a stereo song to make a karaoke or practice track, or keep only the vocal. It runs in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.

or drop it here. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, OPUS or a video. Up to 10 minutes.

What do you want?

This is signal processing, not AI: it removes sound that sits in the centre of a stereo mix. Expect the voice to be much quieter rather than gone, with some reverb left and other centred sounds reduced. Mono files can't be separated. Up to 8 minutes.

How it works

  1. Pick a tool from the tabs above.
  2. Choose a file from your phone or computer, or try the demo track. Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
  3. Adjust the settings, preview the result and download it as MP3 or WAV (plus M4R for iPhone ringtones).
  4. Only use audio you own or have permission to use. See the terms on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Audio Lab free?

Yes. Every tool on this page is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Free files can be up to 10 minutes long (8 minutes for the vocal remover). A Pro version with high-quality cloud stem splitting, batch processing and longer files is planned; you can join the waitlist, and nobody is charged anything today.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is opened and processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer. It is never sent to Centertainment or anyone else, so unreleased songs and private voice notes stay with you. The page only downloads the tool itself (and a small MP3 encoder file) from our site.

Can I use any song?

Only audio you own or have permission to use, such as your own recordings, beats you have licensed, or royalty-free and Creative Commons tracks whose licence allows edits. Cutting a song or removing its vocals does not give you any rights to it, so don't post, sell or perform the result without permission from the rights holders. We don't download audio from YouTube, TikTok, Spotify or any other link.

How good is the free vocal remover?

It is a classic-style remover improved with frequency-by-frequency analysis, not an AI stem splitter. It works best on studio songs where the lead vocal is in the centre and the instruments are spread left and right. Expect the voice to be much quieter rather than completely gone: echo and reverb on the voice often remain, and other centred sounds such as snare or a lead synth can be reduced too. It can't separate mono recordings. High-quality AI separation is planned for Pro.

Which file types work?

Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A and AAC work almost everywhere, and FLAC, OGG and OPUS work in most browsers (for Opus voice notes we include a fallback decoder). You can also choose an MP4, MOV or WebM video and the tool uses its soundtrack. Old AMR voice recordings are not supported by browsers.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Audio Lab is built for phones first and works in current Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Samsung Internet. Long files use a lot of memory, so on a low-end Android phone trim very long recordings first or use a laptop. Keep the page open while it works.

Terms of use and copyright

  • Only process audio you own or have permission to use: your own recordings, beats you have licensed, or tracks whose licence allows editing. Removing vocals, cutting or converting a song does not give you any rights to it.
  • Don't publish, sell, stream or perform results made from other people's music without permission from the rights holders. Platforms may mute, block or claim such uploads, and you are responsible for how you use what you make.
  • Audio Lab does not download or fetch audio from links (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Audiomack, Boomplay or anywhere else) and does not host any music. You choose files that are already on your device.
  • Your files are processed in your browser and never uploaded to Centertainment. We don't see, store or keep copies of your audio. Voice notes may contain other people's voices: respect their privacy.
  • The tools are provided free and "as is". Results are automatic and can contain artefacts, so check them before you share, and keep your original files.

Seven tools, no sign-up

  • Vocal remover and instrumental maker: lowers the lead vocal in a stereo song for karaoke, choir rehearsal or singing practice, or keeps only the vocal.
  • MP3 cutter: trim on a waveform, cut out a section, add fades.
  • Ringtone maker: pick the best 15 to 29 seconds and download an iPhone M4R or an Android MP3, with set-up tips for iPhone, Tecno, Infinix, itel, Samsung and Redmi.
  • Audio joiner: put clips in order and blend them with crossfades.
  • Voice note to MP3: convert WhatsApp .opus and .ogg files, several at a time.
  • Noise cleaner: turn down fan hiss, generator hum and room noise.
  • Volume: match streaming loudness (-14 LUFS), podcast level or a peak level, with a limiter so nothing crackles.

Private by design

Most online audio sites send your file to their servers. Audio Lab doesn’t. The page loads the tools, then your browser does all the work, which is why it’s safe for unreleased songs and personal voice notes. We also don’t fetch audio from YouTube, TikTok or streaming links: you work only with files already on your device, and you must own them or have permission to use them.

What to expect from the free vocal remover

We’d rather be honest than oversell it. The free remover uses signal processing, not AI: it finds sound that sits in the centre of a stereo mix and removes it. On a typical studio song the lead vocal becomes much quieter, but some reverb usually remains and other centred sounds can dip too. Mono recordings can’t be separated. Studio-quality AI stems are what we’re building for Audio Lab Pro.
