MP3 cutter

Need just the chorus for a WhatsApp status, a 15-second hook for a Reel, or a voice note without the first minute of background chatter? This free MP3 cutter shows your audio as a waveform so you can see where each part starts and ends, then saves exactly what you selected.

Selection

Cuts are sample-accurate. MP3 files add a few milliseconds of encoder padding at the start; choose WAV if you need none.

How it works

  1. Choose a song, beat, voice note or video. It opens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  2. Drag the red handles on the waveform, or type the start and end times, to select the part you want.
  3. Choose whether to keep the selection or cut it out, and add a fade in or fade out if you like.
  4. Press the button to make your file, preview it, then download it as MP3 or WAV.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cut the middle out of a song?

Select the part you don't want on the waveform and choose "Cut out the selection". The two sides are joined with a tiny 20 millisecond crossfade so you don't hear a click.

Can I cut a voice note or video?

Yes. Choose a WhatsApp voice note (.opus or .ogg), a video (MP4, MOV, WebM) or any common audio file. The result is saved as MP3 or WAV.

How precise is the cut?

You can set times to a tenth of a second by typing them, and the waveform zooms to the width of your screen. The file is cut at the exact sample, but MP3 files always carry a few milliseconds of encoder padding at the start; WAV has none.

What quality are the MP3 files?

You choose: 128 kbps for small files, 192 kbps (our default and a good balance) or 320 kbps for the best MP3 quality. Choose WAV if you want to keep editing in a DAW without any further loss. Saving as MP3 again always loses a little detail, so start from the best copy you have.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is opened and processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer. It is never sent to Centertainment or anyone else, so unreleased songs and private voice notes stay with you. The page only downloads the tool itself (and a small MP3 encoder file) from our site.

Is Audio Lab free?

Yes. Every tool on this page is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Free files can be up to 10 minutes long (8 minutes for the vocal remover). A Pro version with high-quality cloud stem splitting, batch processing and longer files is planned; you can join the waitlist, and nobody is charged anything today.

Terms of use and copyright

  • Only process audio you own or have permission to use: your own recordings, beats you have licensed, or tracks whose licence allows editing. Removing vocals, cutting or converting a song does not give you any rights to it.
  • Don't publish, sell, stream or perform results made from other people's music without permission from the rights holders. Platforms may mute, block or claim such uploads, and you are responsible for how you use what you make.
  • Audio Lab does not download or fetch audio from links (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Audiomack, Boomplay or anywhere else) and does not host any music. You choose files that are already on your device.
  • Your files are processed in your browser and never uploaded to Centertainment. We don't see, store or keep copies of your audio. Voice notes may contain other people's voices: respect their privacy.
  • The tools are provided free and "as is". Results are automatic and can contain artefacts, so check them before you share, and keep your original files.

What you can do

  • Trim: keep only the part between the two red handles.
  • Cut out a section: remove the middle (an ad break, a mistake, a long silence) and join the two sides with a click-free crossfade.
  • Fade in and out: from half a second to five seconds, for clips that start and end smoothly.
  • Use any source: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WhatsApp voice notes and the soundtrack of MP4, MOV or WebM videos.
  • Save as: MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps, or lossless WAV.

Exact times

Dragging is quick on a phone, but sometimes you need precision, for example to match a 30-second ad slot or a 60-second Short. Type the start and end as minutes and seconds (like 1:05.5) and the selection jumps to that spot. Press Play selection to check it before you save.

Popular uses

Creators cut intros and outros for podcasts, DJs prepare short edits, churches trim service recordings, and students cut lecture audio into parts. For phone ringtones, use the ringtone maker, which keeps clips under the 30-second iPhone limit and makes an M4R for you. To stitch several clips together, use the audio joiner.

Your file is processed on your device and never uploaded, and there’s no watermark. Only cut audio you own or have permission to use.
