Accessibility: screen readers can't read fancy fonts properly. They may spell out every symbol or skip the word, and in-app search may not find it. Keep your name, key info and links in normal text, and use styled letters only as decoration.
Runs on your device. Nothing you type is sent to our server.
How it works

- Use the Instagram filter to see the styles that show correctly on most phones.
- Tap Copy on the style you like and paste it into your Name, Bio or a caption.
- Check the counter: your Instagram bio can hold 150 characters.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use fancy fonts in my Instagram username?
No. Instagram usernames (your @handle) only accept letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. Fancy letters work in your Name field, your bio, captions, comments and Story text, but not in the handle itself.
Why do some Instagram fonts show as boxes?
Each style is made of Unicode symbols, and an older phone or app may not have a symbol in its system font, so it shows an empty box or a question mark. Bold, italic, script and sans-serif styles are the safest. Small caps, superscript and upside-down text are missing a few letters on some devices.
How many characters can an Instagram bio have?
An Instagram bio holds up to 150 characters, and your Name field up to 64. Emoji and some fancy letters can count as two, so use the counter on this page and leave a little room.
Will fancy fonts hurt my reach on Instagram?
Instagram search reads your name and username, so a name written only in fancy letters can be harder to find. Keep your real name in plain text somewhere, for example "Tolu β¨ π£πΈπ΅πΎ ππΎπΌπ²π¬", and use styled letters as decoration.
Can screen readers read fancy fonts?
Usually not well. The styled letters are separate Unicode symbols, so a screen reader may spell them out as "mathematical bold capital A", read them one by one, or skip them. Blind and low-vision followers can miss your message, and search inside apps may not find you. Keep your name, the key information and any links in normal text, and use fancy letters only for a word or two of decoration.
Where Instagram fonts work
- Name field: yes. This is the bold line above your bio, up to 64 characters.
- Bio: yes, up to 150 characters. Bold or script on the first line, plain text for the rest reads best.
- Captions, comments and Story text: yes.
- Username (@handle): no. Instagram only allows letters, numbers, full stops and underscores there.
Styles that look good on Instagram
Script (π’π¬π»π²πΉπ½) suits beauty, fashion and personal pages. Bold sans (ππΌπΉπ±) works for brands, music and business accounts because it stays clean on small screens. Double-struck (π»π π¦πππ) and fraktur (ππ―ππ¨π±π²π―) look dramatic but are harder to read, so keep them to one or two words. Avoid writing your whole bio in a fancy style: it is slower to read and screen readers struggle with it.
