Instagram money calculator

Instagram doesn’t pay you for followers. Most of the money creators make there comes from brands, which leaves one awkward question every time a DM lands: what should I charge? This Instagram money calculator gives you a sensible starting price for a sponsored feed post, Reel or Story, worked out from your followers, your engagement and where your audience lives. It also calculates your engagement rate for you.

We start with a widely used industry benchmark of roughly $100 per 10,000 followers per sponsored post, and show a range from half to double that. Published 2026 guides put nano creators (1,000–10,000 followers) at roughly $20–$200 a post, micro creators (10,000–50,000) at $200–$2,000 and accounts with over a million followers at $15,000 or more. Our formula keeps results inside those bands.

Then we adjust for three things brands care about:

  • Engagement rate. Your average likes and comments per post divided by your followers. An account with 20,000 followers that gets lively comments can be worth more than one with 100,000 silent followers. The bands we use are our own estimate, because no one publishes an official multiplier.
  • Format. Reels usually cost about 20–30% more than a feed post because they take more work, while Stories are typically about half the price of a post.
  • Audience location. Brand budgets per follower are smaller in Nigeria and other emerging markets than in the US or UK. These regional factors are our own estimate, so compare them with real quotes in your niche.

How to use it

  1. Enter your followers and your average likes plus comments per post. Use your last 10–12 posts for a fair average.
  2. Choose the content type, how many sponsored posts you expect each month and where most of your followers live.
  3. Press Estimate my earnings to see a per-post range, your engagement rate and a monthly total.

The price shown is a base rate. Usage rights (a brand running your content as an ad), exclusivity and tight deadlines usually add 30–50%. Treat the result as a starting point for negotiation, not a guarantee. Our upcoming Media Kit PDF will turn these numbers into a rate card you can send to brands.

Estimate, not a guarantee. Instagram does not publish fixed rates. These ranges use public data and our own estimates (reviewed 8 October 2026). Your real earnings depend on your audience, content and the platform's rules. Not financial advice.

How it's calculated

  • We start from a common industry benchmark of about $10 per 1,000 followers per sponsored post, with a range of $5–$20.
  • Your engagement rate (average likes plus comments per post, divided by followers) moves the price up or down. The bands we use are our own estimate.
  • Reels are priced about 25% higher than feed posts, and Stories about half, in line with published agency guidance.
  • Audience region adjusts the price because brands pay less per follower in lower-income ad markets. These regional factors are our own estimate.
  • Usage rights, exclusivity and paid whitelisting usually add 30–50% and are not included.

Frequently asked questions

How much do Instagram influencers make per post?

Published 2026 benchmarks put nano creators (1,000–10,000 followers) at about $20–$200 per post, micro creators (10,000–50,000) at $200–$2,000 and creators with over a million followers at $15,000 or more. Engagement, niche and usage rights change the final price.

How much do Instagram influencers charge in Nigeria?

Rates are lower than US benchmarks because brand budgets are smaller, and they vary a lot between agencies. Treat the result as a starting point, then adjust after you compare quotes with creators of a similar size in your niche.

Does Instagram pay you for followers?

No. Instagram does not pay per follower. Most creators earn from brand partnerships; Instagram's own bonuses, gifts and subscriptions are only available in some countries.

What is a good Instagram engagement rate?

Around 1–3% is common for accounts with tens of thousands of followers, and smaller accounts often score higher. Above 3% is strong. The calculator works it out from your average likes and comments.
